The Seattle Nisei Veterans Committee (NVC, 501-c-19) and the NVC
Foundation (501-c-3) are parallel organizations sharing a common
motto “Honoring the Past, Educating the Future” and a common
mission “To preserve and honor the Japanese American legacies and
to provide community programs that meet the educational, cultural and
social needs of the broader community.”

NVC/NVCF projects and activities to accomplish our mission

  • Annual NVC Memorial Day Service to honor Japanese American
    fallen heroes of WW II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Granada
  • Produced the Seattle Regional Congressional Gold Medal
    Celebration honoring 89 veterans of the 100th / 442nd / MIS before
    1200 members of the families and community at the University of
  • Renovation of NVC Hall for various community activities and
    functional venue for NVC/NVCF activities and events
  • Construction of NVC Foundation Memorial Wall to Honor Japanese
    American veterans and incarcerated families in U.S.
    concentration camps
  • Medal of Honor Museum at NVC Hall features military uniforms,
    medal, artifacts and weapons donated by NVC members
  • Speakers Bureau sends speakers to schools and civic organizations
    to educate the public on the Japanese American Experience
  • Monthly Speaker Series provides personal and family oral histories
    of the Nisei and Japanese American experience
  • Scholarship program for higher education
  • Monthly publication of a NVC Newsletter with a circulation of 1500,
    also archived on website
  • Maintaining a library of resources on the Japanese American
  • Collaborations with other Nikkei and Asian American organizations
    in Seattle
  • NVC/NVCF Foundation educational, social and fundraising activities
    throughout the year
